Camp Sonrise is a summer day-camp serving Central Massachusetts. We provide a safe place for children to have fun, make new friends, and learn more about Jesus.
About Us
Camp Sonrise is located on the campus of South Lancaster Academy, in South Lancaster, with its picturesque woods and ponds, and across the street from Kilbourne Hill (a.k.a. Dexter Drumlin), which is favored among children for kite flying during summer and sledding during winter. Our camp is designed for children ages 5-12, with a focus on socio-emotional and spiritual growth in a fun, educational setting.

Our Staff
At Camp Sonrise, we are committed to hiring staff that not only provide a safe environment for your children, but also an enriching one. Our hope is that the Christian values taught and displayed by our staff will make a positive difference in the lives of our campers, and that each and every camper will view the Camp Sonrise staff as mentors and friends. In addition to our day camp training program, each of our staff members undergoes an extensive application process that includes government background checks. Our staff to camper ratio at Camp Sonrise is at least 1 to 5 for campers ages 5 and 6, and 1 to 10 for ages 7 to 12.
COUNSELORS IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM
Camp Sonrise offers an amazing CIT program. The goal of the program is to develop leadership skills that can be used throughout life to help others and develop the skills needed in leading and teaching children. The CIT receives all the camper benefits plus will be able to assist the head counselor with their assigned responsibilities and duties such as providing supervision with related activities, that include, but are not limited to, sports, hobbies, team games, arts & crafts, and field trips. The CIT will also assist children through these various activities providing guidance and coaching as necessary. The fee to join the CIT program is $75/week. Interested in joining the CIT program? LYNISE MENDOZA - PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Hello Camp Sonrise Families,
I am so excited to be your Camp Sonrise Director for this summer of 2024. I am working hard with my team to create a fun and engaging summer full of activities, outings, crafts, games, sports, and more for your beautiful children to learn and enjoy. We will have activities/specials that will repeat weekly and others that will take place only during that current week.
This may be my first year as Camp Sonrise Director, but I am no stranger to the town of Lancaster - or to the wonderful world of children’s ministries. I grew up just a hop and a skip from The Village Church and attended the local schools. I have worked with Pathfinders and Adventurers since my college years at AUC, and as a missionary in Palau, and in CT. I have helped in many different ways in countless summers of VBS, and a few years with Camp Winnekeag. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education and spent a few years teaching.
More recently, I have been at home with my two beautiful girls, Linela and Larena, and working on a new career in accounting. I am so grateful for all the wonderful blessings God has poured upon me over the years and this summer will be no different.
